ROLE engages in Christ Centered Partnerships. In their words: “We walk alongside one another bringing hope and mobility to people with disabilities through education, infrastructure support, assistive device delivery and development and practical hands-on service. We seek to provide resources and expertise that equips people and organizations to become self sufficient.”

ROLE supports Agape Rehabilitation Initiative UG LTD. Agape Rehabilitation Initiative UG LTD, (Agape) is a registered school for children living with disabilities in Uganda. Agape offers residential care for these children, who live on-site for three-month periods, while they provide physical therapy so these children with disabilities can learn new ways to improve their quality of life. In many cases, this therapy takes the form of learning to use a custom-fitted wheelchair or other assistive device, which are donated or produced at the school. They extend similar compassionate support to families and children throughout the surrounding community, even if they are not students at the school. These services include physical therapy, counseling, occupational therapy, life training, speech and language therapy, nursing care and special needs education for children with disabilities.

Agape’s income comes primarily from modest fees for rehabilitation and for children residing on-site. These fees, however, are not sufficient to pay the full costs of facilities, infrastructure, and professional staff. Donations are gratefully accepted to fill the gaps in Agape’s essential work. Agape was founded and is run by Isaac Byonanebye Dickson and his wife, Josephine. Isaac is a local Ugandan physical therapist who was inspired to found Agape by donations of wheelchairs from American nonprofits. He is partnered with ROLE and is passionate about doing everything he can to care for those in need of physical therapy.

ROLE supports DERE (Determined Education and Rural Development), which runs the Divine Hope School in Mwanza, Tanzania. The Divine Hope School provides food, shelter, medical care, clothing, and wheelchairs to children to orphans, vulnerable children, and those living with physical disabilities. In addition, they equip children and their single mothers with life skills in agriculture, environmental stewardship, and entrepreneurship. Rather than teaching reliance on short-term provisions, Divine Hope school encourages long-term stability in families facing massive challenges, such as severe poverty, HIV/AIDS, and and single parenthood.

The Divine Hope School’s programs include:

• Day Care Center, Preschool, and Primary School

• Tailoring Operations

• English Language Instruction

These programs are expensive to provide. Jacob Odiwa is the founder, executive director, and operating manager of the Divine Hope School. He is deeply committed to providing philanthropic support to his community, particularly to children with disabilities.
